What to see in Tenerife by car
Tenerife is the largest and most varied island of the Canaries. The Teide National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is dominated by the highest volcano in Spain (3,718 m): the road that climbs from sea level to the crater is an unforgettable experience, crossing pine forests and lunar landscapes.
The south is the tourist area par excellence: Playa de las Americas and Costa Adeje offer beaches, restaurants and nightlife. The El Medano beach, beaten by the wind, is a kitesurfing paradise. The Los Gigantes, 600-meter cliffs plunging into the sea, are reachable by car from the western coast.
The north, greener and more authentic, hides the colonial city of La Laguna (UNESCO), the primordial forests of the Anaga Park and the village of Masca, perched in a spectacular gorge. The Carnival of Santa Cruz, the second largest in the world after Rio, is held in February.
